How is the piercing procedure done?
All professional piercings are pierced by hand with a hollow needle and quickly removed to install the jewelry. Any jewelry going into a new piercing will have a longer barbell or post to ensure there is enough room for swelling. If you happen to swell more than we anticipated and you no longer have room on your jewelry, please stop by as soon as you can so we can replace it with one that will work better for you.

What does downsizing mean?
When we tell you to come back to downsize your jewelry, that means to come back to get the shorter post for your piercing. We only change the post part of your jewelry so it is more fitted once the initial swelling has gone down. You may need to downsize more than once. Downsizing is extremely important for cartilage piercings to prevent it from shifting in a different direction after sleeping on it. It can also help prevent piercing bumps!
How much does an ear curation cost?
The cost of an ear curation is completely dependent on what you want to do! Ear piercings range in price and have different starting jewelry options that you can upgrade to if you want to start with something a little fancier. Most curations are done over a long period of time but if you already have the piercings and just want to upgrade everything at once, that works too! There is no right or wrong way to do them.

How do I clean my piercing?

What does it feel like?
As much as I wish I could take away all the discomfort with piercings, a piercing is still going to feel like a piercing. It will feel a little pinchy while the piercing is happening (1 whole second and may be a little sore while we install the jewelry (another whole second) and then it is all done! The longest part of the whole process is cleaning and marking. If I call you back and you don't feel ready or have changed your mind, just let me know!

What if my jewelry falls out?
We always try our best to make the jewelry secure before you leave, but if it happens to fall out then stop by as soon as you can! If you wait too long before putting something back into your piercing it can either close completely or shrink which will make tapering back open uncomfortable. There are a lot of times that even old healed piercings can be stretched back open. It's a lot easier than piercing them all over again!
Why do I have a piercing bump?
Piercing bumps can happen for a number of reasons, but they almost never happen for no reason. The most common reason piercing bumps form is trauma caused to the piercing (getting snagged, sleeping on, not downsizing which will cause excessive movement, touching or rotating the jewelry). It is most likely not a keloid. Piercing bumps are not ideal but usually go away when eliminating what is irritating the piercing.

What if I don't have the right anatomy?
Since everyone has different anatomy, not all piercings may be safe for you. An industrial piercing is a common example, which requires the upper cartilage to be flat enough so it doesn't embed into the ear, while also having space on the rim of the ear to hold the piercing. Another example is the actual navel shape to determine whether you need a traditional or floating navel. I will always try to guide you in the best direction!
